April Fool.... NOT

One thing about April it's always been a very lighthearted month. I think starting out with the day of jokes ... haha. It sets people's moods for the month. I mean if you get pranked badly you are pissed all month. If you get a good 'whew' kinda joke like.. Oh Mom, I'm pregnant APRIL FOOL'S then you're like.... ohh you kid hahah.

Either way, life is full of surprises. For me, it was completing a month of freelance writing successfully and looking forward to many more months to come. It was getting my book covers for my two book coming up in the fall and winter of the year and most of all ... it was maintaining my weight loss!

Okay so yes I challenged myself to 10 more pounds in March and it didn't happen but I did lose 5 and played with the rest back and forth all month. It's pretty common to do that I've heard.

REALITY BITE: March was hard for focusing on my weight. I had some stuff going on that had me pretty distracted. I got the freelance gig. It kept me really excited and working way out of balance with what I should call "a normal schedule". I didn't leave my house for much! It was like, I got addicted to writing those little articles. I managed to write nearly 60. My goal was 100. Okay so I do see that 100 isn't out of reality but I do have to start balancing these better at like 5 a day Monday through Friday only or I'm gonna NOT get anything else done. It's crazy. They do reject some articles and so with that, I have to sometimes write like 6 a day or more... it's crazy. But I have 2 novels to write and finish here pretty quick so I have to get some balance. What does this have to do with my weight. Well it has me up way late at night and missing my 8 hours that I promised to give myself to stay healthy. I can't start abusing myself. And the workout room... shoot, I'm surprise my key still works as long as it's been since I've been there. I know this is why I didn't lose that ten pounds. I just sat on my butt writing. Many of us writer has this problem and that's why keeping healthy is so difficult. But I have to get better. I'm not gaining but the weight I'm losing now is not the good stuff. I'm sagging everywhere ... YUCK.

GOOD NEWS: I'm positively looking at ways to improve. Yes I actually am willing to cut back on my work schedule a little to allow for more HEALTHY ME time. Cooking, eating and doing more things for my good health. The weather is sucky outside in April here in Portland. It's our rainiest month but I do have the Wii and I need to get busy really getting a full regime that I stick to everyday. I was trying to get away to AZ for a week but it's not gonna work out unless I take off like.. today! AZ gets way to hot in May so if I don't make it this month I wont be going until around October.

GOALS: You may notice on the sides there under my maintenance stuff, I also have some new goals. I think the biggest one over the weight loss is the workout goals. The walking goal mostly. The weather is tricky but not so much so that I can't get in 5 miles on a Saturday! That's my goal. Take Saturday off and get my exercise in. The weight room, I need to get my butt in BED so I can get up early enough to hit that room first thing! Dancing... well that and the Wii I've been pretty good with keeping up on, but I need to hit with more focus. Sweat just a little more. The healthcare bill will not even touch me for a few more years so until then my health is still MY concern and my concern only.

Cooking is back and so are the pictures so look around the site for a couple of recipes that will appear in the book: Eating Right For The Vegan Who Writes © Michelle McGriff, 2009.
